She was found in a field alone, dehydrated, malnourished, covered in fleas and ticks and barely surviving. The shelter estimates her to be around 3 months of age. We are grateful to have found a foster to commit to helping her tiny, frail body to heal. Daisy comes to Chelsea’s Hope because her owner could not afford to feed or care for a boxer puppy. Daisy lived outside in a crate unprotected from the elements. She was covered with ticks/fleas and being drained by parasites. She went straight to the vet with a volunteer to get cleaned up and started on medication. Even though Daisy didn’t feel well she wagged her tail the entire ride. She will be ready for adoption in October in the NY tri-state area.

Nessa loves dogs of all ages and sizes. She’s a smart cookie. She is fully potty trained, knows how to use doggy door or will knock to go outside. Nessa is a typical goofy, fun-loving boxer. Nessa enjoys playing in water, chasing balls or bubbles and sleepovers with furiends!

This is Nessa. We aren’t sure what happened to her, but it definitely wasn’t anything that any dog should ever go through. She was found with her toes cut off and her sweet little body is covered in scars and lacerations. It’s not accidental. Maybe a bait dog. Maybe just a sicko. Either way, that’s never going to happen to her again. She is shy and skittish outside and looking for a home to feel safe in. She loves other dogs and her foster mom. Every time we say “we can’t take another dog” another dog comes up that we can’t leave behind.

HARRIET – You may remember Harriet from $5 Friday a few weeks ago. She went into labor within 24 hours of arriving at her foster home. Harriet was so thin no one realized she was pregnant in the shelter. Sadly, Harriet was incredibly malnourished and parasite ridden so only 2 puppies survived.

The good news is Harriet is healing and she’s happy. She eats lots of delicious meals (thanks to generous donors), is gaining weight and receiving vet care she didn’t in the past. She’s affectionate and friendly with people, dogs and cats. She would prefer to be by your side than in the crate but she’s not a complainer. Foster Mom says Harriet is her little shadow

OZZIE – Ozzie is still learning how to be a dog. He feels safest in his crate and spends much of the day there even though he has freedom. Ozzie has canine & feline friends but play is foreign concept for this quiet boy. We can’t wait to see more wiggles as the big fella relaxes

OZZIE & HARRIET are buddies but not bonded. They can be adopted together but it’s not a requirement. If you can provide a loving home for one or both of these sweet spirits, please apply!
